Publish, Not Perish
John Donne wrote "...never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee" (Meditation 17, Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions, 1624). It was mercilessly swiped by Hemingway in 1940. While issues of Copyright and Plagiarism can surely sound the death knell for an academic career, so can invisibility. Our students are encouraged to become involved in the greater academic community through publishing and conference presentation, thereby enriching their professional lives. For basic information on publishing in scholarly journals, check out Publish, Not Perish, an online tutorial to help you get started -- it's free, don't panic.
Keep your channels tuned in to this blog for entries on publishing/presenting opportunities. You can check out our last CFP (Calls for Papers) announcement by clicking here.
Literary note: Contrary to popular thought, these famous lines of Donne's are not a poem, but prose.
