Core Faculty Positions
Pacifica Graduate Institute is recruiting for Core Faculty positions in:
- Depth Psychology Department
- Clinical Psychology Department

Pacifica’s mission and curriculum are grounded in Jungian, imaginal, and archetypal depth psychologies.
Appointments: Beginning Fall 2007 and Fall 2008
Qualifications:
- Preferably, a doctorate in psychology or a closely related field (M.A. candidates with strong qualifications may be considered).
- Licensed in mental health depending upon program assignment.
- Prior experience teaching at graduate level.
- Clinical and research experience depending upon program assignment.
General Duties and Responsibilities: All positions emphasize excellence and experience in teaching at the graduate level. Successful candidates are required to carry full academic loads and be involved in: advising, department and school committees, teaching across curriculum areas, program development, thesis/dissertation committees, assessment, admissions reviews and interviews, evidence of scholarly publications, and community service. An understanding of depth psychological perspectives is essential.

Depth Psychology: Core Faculty
Appointment: September 2007
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in depth psychology, clinical psychology, literature, religious studies, or a closely related field.

Familiarity with participatory research and cultural studies are important in advising students about community and ecological fieldwork and research.

Should be prepared to teach interdisciplinary courses on the intersection of culture and psychology with particular attention to race and gender issues, courses on post-Jungian, Freudian or Lacanian psychologies.

Clinical Psychology: Core Faculty
Qualifications:
- A doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in depth psychological traditions, Jungian, and analytical psychology.
- State licensed or license-eligible.
- Scholar-practitioner.
- Experience and research in psychoanalytic psychology, phenomenology, or depth psychology are desirable.

Humanities: Department Chair
Pacifica Graduate Institute, an accredited graduate school, seeks a scholar to assume the role of Chair of the master's level Humanities Department.
Pacifica's mission is grounded in Jungian, Archetypal, and Imaginal psychologies. The successful candidate will bring academic experience to a wide variety of graduate level depth psychology and humanities courses. In addition, technical and pedagogical expertise with online education is essential, as this program involves a blend of face-to-face and online contact hours under Desire2Learn's host.
The institution is entering an accreditation review and the new Chair will be actively involved in this process. Experience with higher education accreditation, while not required, will be highly valuable.

Staff Positions
Library Assistant
Responsibilities:
Assist with circulation service, shelve books, process reserves and holds, track overdue items and collect fines and fees. Assist patrons in person, by e-mail, telephone or in writing, repair or replace damaged library materials, assist with ordering library supplies, assist with clerical tasks such as: faxing, mailings, photocopying, and other special projects; assist students with basic computer needs.
Requirements:
- Excellent customer service and basic computer knowledge.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Library experience is preferred.
Senior Director of Admissions
Pacifica is seeking a Senior Director of Admissions to recruit students to meet the enrollments goals of the Institute on a quarterly (or as needed) basis and to honor the Institute’s commitment to diversity.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Director of Admissions plans and directs the operational and policy activities of the Admissions Office to meet institutional goals including: strategically plan, execute, and monitor annual admissions and recruitment, develop all admissions recruitment materials and participate as a member of the marketing team, update and meet with program chairs to coordinate report status of enrollment goals, and oversee all application processing and correspondence from the admissions office, stay current on all cutting edge recruiting techniques; research and attend graduate fairs and forums. Assign track placement for the six graduate degree programs offered by the Institute. Prepare and maintain monthly application comparison reports which are shared with President, Executive Management Counsel, and marketing team; serve as Principle Designated School Official (PDSO) for SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) for Dept. of Homeland Security; support and attend public conferences and events sponsored by Institute; educate and provide information about immigration policies for students; and supervise and evaluate departmental staff.
Qualifications:
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, master’s or above preferred, 5-8 years of progressively responsible admissions work; able to manage a fast paced department with excellent supervisory skills; must possess advanced computer skills with the ability to perform computer analysis and reporting, and the ability to create an Enrollment Management System; recruitment, events planning, publications, and public relations experience preferred. Must be an experienced public speaker; familiarity with Depth Psychology, a real plus.

Part-Time Temporary Admissions Counselor
Pacifica is seeking a Part-time, Temporary Admissions Counselor to recruit students to meet the enrollment goals of the Institute on a quarterly (or as needed) basis and to honor the Institute’s commitment to diversity.
Responsibilities:
This part-time, temporary position will work 4 hours per day on a flexible schedule, Monday thru Friday, for a period of 6 months. The Admissions Counselor will support the Directors of Admissions in meeting institutional goals; identify, contact, and maintain relationships with prospective students; advise and facilitate student applications; assist applied students in completing the admission processes and smooth the process of admitted students in completing their enrollment; serves as an integral part of the admissions team and is responsible for meeting deadlines and quotas; enter and compile admissions data and issue reports upon request.; preparation of and participation in all admissions sponsored events. This position may be required to attend weekend events.
Qualifications:
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree; 1-3 years of progressively responsible admissions/student affairs work; recruitment, and public relations experience preferred. Strong relational skills required and familiarity with Depth Psychology, a plus. Computer experience in Microsoft Office and database management. Salary $16.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Accounting Analyst
Pacifica Graduate Institute is an accredited graduate school offering Master’s and PhD degrees in Psychology, Humanities, and Mythological Studies in the tradition of depth psychology. Pacifica is located in beautiful Carpinteria, CA, and is currently seeking an Accounting Analyst.
Responsibilites include:
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis; work directly with Senior Director of Finance and auditors as needed, prepare annual audit schedules; prepare monthly occupancy tax returns; maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules; prepare personal property tax return; maintain worksheets; reconcile all bank accounts and credit card transactions on a monthly basis. Monitor all cash funds on a daily basis, transfer funds as needed and to maximize interest income, and research rates of return; make deposits for quarterly, estimated taxes; monitor insurance coverage payments: vehicular, workers’ compensation, etc. Execute all other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience. PC literate; MS Office (including Word and Excel), MAS 90 familiarity, Ten key calculator, General office equipment.

Clinical Assistant/Student Affairs Representative
Pacifica Graduate Institute, an accredited graduate college offering Psychology and Mythological Study degrees in the tradition of depth psychology, is currently seeking a Clinical Assistant/Student Affairs Representative.
Responsibilities include: Assists Director of Clinical Training in guiding students through their practicum experiences; maintains database documenting student progress in practicum. Works with Program Chair in tracking students’ academic standing; develops academic plans. Responds to student inquiries.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree: 3-5 years administrative and/or educational experience; student service/academic counseling experience preferred; must be PC literate, including Microsoft Office and data base experience, including Filemaker Pro and Excel; excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task in a team environment.
