Dear Alumni,

Here at Pacifica we want to establish and maintain community with our alumni. Again and again, at commencement ceremonies and in casual conversation, our graduates speak of the sense of homecoming that drew them to Pacifica. They point to of a sense of “community,” “like-mindedness,” and “belonging.” Pacifica’s motto, animae mundi colendae gratia, expresses our intention to tend soul in the world. We also strive to tend the soul of each individual who sets foot on our campuses.

The Office of Alumni Affairs aims to strengthen relationships by providing a place for alumni to stay in touch with their Pacifica family through regional groups, social networks, and online community. Research for an opt-in electronic alumni directory continues as do discussions for hosting online forums.

The formation of regional groups remains a primary project. On July 21st http://www.online.pacifica.edu/alumniaffairs/stories/storyReader$150 we had a wonderful gathering of the Los Angeles and Orange County alumni with Steve Aizenstat and Dennis Slattery speaking and Rita Beasley (LA County volunteer coordinator), Marilyn Owen and Nancy Meyer (Orange County volunteer coordinators) hosting this 70+ person event. Additionally, our local Tri-County alumni (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura) gathered Friday, August 24th with staff and faculty as Pacifica joined with the Alzheimer’s Association for their Memory Walk 2007 http://sbmemorywalk.kintera.org/PacificaGraduateInstitute (donations are still being accepted should you feel so inclined).

I continue to post their biographies and links to the Alumni and Faculty & Staff news pages. Please stay in touch by using the “update your contact information” and “tell us what’s new with you” forms. Most importantly, keep your email address up to date as a fair amount of ongoing communication will be via email.
