Founded by Melander in 2005, the Imaginal Institute is a conduit for imagining: celebrating and supporting the leap between ideas and action through dialogue, lifelong learning, and creative expression. The Institute is empowered by a growing community of Fellows, imaginal activists working in a variety of academic and creative fields, and offers online learning as well as events, including:
Gathering of Fools, an annual informal collegium to share ideas and build relationships in the spirit of the sacred fool, who knows both all and nothing.
Imaginal Practicums, hands-on celebrations of imagination in practice.
Conversations with Master Seekers, intimate gatherings with some of the leading thinkers in imagination, creativity, and myth.
In 2008, the Institute will launch its publishing imprint, Meandering Press, with the first books in its Little Book, Big Idea series.
In addition to the Hillman Conversation, the Imaginal Institute is offering the following events led by Institute Fellows this spring:
Imaginal Practicum: Brave New Commedia
March 15, Ojai California
Led by theater artist Susan Kelejian, a delightful dance into the world of Commedia dell'Arte, Italian improvisational street theater with stock characters deriving from Theophrastus’ human types. What are their counterparts today?
Conversations with Master Seekers: Psyche’s Poetry, A Weekend with David Miller
May 16-18, Ojai, California
The revered and irreverent brilliant scholar/teacher/idea dancer David Miller will lead a journey exploring the intersections between poetry and psyche.
