Not a Holiday Party
The Orange County Student/Alumni Regional Group had a terrific time at our first small gathering, sharing our post-Pacifica journeys, discussing the need to re-invent yourself every decade or so, creative conjugations of the word "numinous"--which none of us had ever heard prior to Pacifica, and comparing the merits of Jeremiah--both the Biblical prophet and the bullfrog. We also came up with a must-see DVD (Eddie Izzard's Dress to Kill and must-read non-fiction (Jeannette Walls' The Glass House). All in all, the evening was full of laughter and deep thoughts, a perfect way to begin 'the season'. Thanks to all who made long drives on a cold winter's evening to our communal fire--Farshid, Shane & Jerry, Barbara, Kristin, Joe & Laura, and to Nancy for co-hosting. To those of you who were unable to come, we hope you can make the next one.
Speaking of which, if anyone out there would like to host a gathering in January, let me know. If not, I'll probably do it in Diamond Bar. However, moving it around might be nice in order to shorten some folks' drive time!
Hope you all have a lovely Deep Mid-Winter...however you celebrate it.
