Druscilla French: Mythological Studies (1999)
Druscilla French (1999) holds a Ph.D. in Mythology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. She holds an M.A. in Communications and an undergraduate degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well. Drucie has taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, George Washington University, and Northern Virginia Community College.
Currently Drucie is the President of the Foundation for Mythological Studies (FMS), a frequent lecturer in academic circles and occasional writer of academic articles. Drucie spends most of her time raising money for higher education in the fields of
Women’s Studies, Archetypal/Depth Psychology and Conflict Resolution. She serves on the Board of the Archives and Research Center for the Study of Depth Psychology (whose actual name is as elusive as Hermes). Additionally, Drucie serves on the Executive Council for the Women's Leadership Council at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as the Capital Campaign Committee at UNC which will reach its goal of two billion dollars in 2007.
In addition to the responsibilities and interests above, Drucie edits friends’ books and articles and teaches writing classes with FMS. She’s a mom, a wife and (as many of you may have already guessed) a multi-tasker. Her novel, Shadows on Samhain, was
published in October on the FMS website. It is mythically based, with the central characters occupying a grand mountain and bearing resemblance to the legendary dwellers of Mount Olympus. Shadows on Samhain is the first book in a series of eight. At present Drucie is
working on a book on cultural narcissism, entitled The Blissless Myth. She divides her time between McLean, VA and Evergreen, CO.
