October 13, 2007 Gathering of the Illinois/Wisconsin Regional Group

The first official gathering of the Illinois/Wisconsin Chapter of Pacifica Alumni was held last Saturday afternoon at the Jung Center in Evanston. We would like to thank the Jung Center for generously hosting our first event. Although the RSVP’s had totaled thirteen, several last minute cancellations brought the actual number to eight former students. Many were unable to join us for this first gathering but expressed a strong interest in upcoming events.

The meeting began with a circle of introductions. Tracey Cleantis, the Regional Alumni Coordinator, invited all to relate what brought them to Pacifica, their professional involvements, and what their hopes were for the group. The circle was filled with an excitement that was reminiscent of circles we have experienced at Pacifica.

Some of the ideas, hopes and ruminations intimated that we contemplated included:

  • A book (or theater/movie/performance/museum)group.
  • Thesis/Dissertation Presentations.
  • Networking.
  • Community.
  • Depth consultation group/peer supervision.
  • Dissertation/Thesis mentoring for current students.
  • Practical consultation: legal, logistical, practical advice, or anything that could be of use or necessity for the support and development of depth work.

Our first meeting lasted two-hours, as scheduled, adjourning on time at 3p.m. after setting a plan for our next gathering. It was decided that the next event would be a Solstice Event on December 8th. Sharon Rukin, PhD graciously offered to host the gathering at her home. Please RSVP for what will surely be a lovely night of light, ritual, dinner and community. Details for the event will be posted on the Anima Mundi Midwest Yahoo Group.

We urge those of you not yet registered to join up as soon as possible, in order not to miss the opportunity of participating in or hearing about the goings-on of our Illinois/Wisconsin Chapter of Pacifica’s Alumni Association!

Thank you for your interest and support in this group.
